Call Center Representative

Long Term Temporary Position



    We are a nationally recognized primary and specialty care practice in a state-of-the-art facility in the Chelsea area of New York City.


    We are expanding our practice and we need motivated and enthusiastic candidates to join our team to welcome and process new patients. Some of the job responsibilities include:


  • Greet patients in a courteous manner over the phone.
  • Complete mini registration for all new patients including, patient name, demographics, date of birth, sex, insurance carrier, insurance ID number and eligibility.
  • Check electronic message box as assigned and in a timely fashion.
  • Send patients appointment confirmations via email.
  • Direct calls to other departments as necessary


    Because you will be the voice of our practice, and the first contact for these new patients, you will need the following:
  • Greet patients in a courteous manner over the phone.
  • Experience in a call center or in a position with high volume of calls.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to speak Spanish strongly preferred but not required

Registered Nurse – Bilingual Spanish



    Supports existing workflows and assists in developing new workflows to enhance teamwork and patient-centered care throughout the Health Center. Overall responsibility includes but is not limited to supervision of clinical staff in stated areas.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Supervises medical assistants and oversees workflows for effective and efficient patient service.
  2. Coordinates system issues affecting clinical workflows with the Director of Patient Services to encourage efficient teamwork.
  3. Participates in the completion of annual performance appraisals and competency evaluations for supervised staff.
  4. Provides recommendations to administration to improve patient services and overall work processes.
  5. Participates in the initiating and carrying forward of disciplinary steps as written in UHC HR Policy and Procedures and union contracts.
  6. Coordinates and maintains weekly and monthly schedules with the Nursing Department.
  7. Responsible for training MA staff to new or revised workflows in response to NCQA Medical Home standards.
  8. Supports the Director of Clinical Services with adjustments to daily staffing to meet the needs of the Health Center.
  9. Complies with the Union Health Center’s policies & procedures related to privacy and security of identifiable patient information (PHI), as explained in the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) training.
  10. Supports and reinforces policies regarding patient care, infection control and safety.
  11. Assists the Director of Clinical Services with schedules and projects.
  12. Participates in handling the morning sick call line with the RNs.
  13. Assists in orientation of new personnel.
  14. Coordinates response to patient emergencies and initiates immediate action.
  15. Participates in Quality Assurance and Improvement activities.
  16. Supports the stated goals and objectives of the Patient Centered Medical Home by working cooperatively with all clinical and non-clinical staff to develop procedures that enhance the Health Center’s team-based approach to patient care.


    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Union Health Center will comply with applicable standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.


  • New York State Licensed Registered Nurse
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written communication and collaborative skills.
  • Good computer skills required, knowledge of Microsoft Word. Excel and EMR a plus.
  • Language: Bilingual English/ Spanish required


Medical Assistant – Bilingual Spanish

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Measures and/or records vital signs, allergies, weight, height and smoking status into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  2. Performs urine pregnancy test, peak flows, finger stick for glucose, monofilament foot exams and/or urine dipstick, if needed.
  3. Codes patient procedures into the EMR.
  4. Assists provider with refilling medication prescriptions and patient procedures as per Union Health Center (UHC) policies and procedures (P&P).
  5. Reviews EMR prior to scheduled appointments for completion of health maintenance recommendations, previous Pap smear, mammography, other radiographic studies and lab work. Updates flow sheet as per UHC P&P.
  6. Checks and stocks exam rooms with supplies. At the end of the work day, prepares exam rooms for the next work day.
  7. Sets up room for the provider.
  8. Communicates bi-directionally with greeter of patient’s arrival and/or appointment status.
  9. Escorts patient to the exam room. Initially assesses and prepares the patient for the provider.
  10. Reviews, confirms and updates the patient’s demographic data in the EMR registration document.
  11. Communicates with the provider and team.
  12. Assists the provider with translation, form completion and patient education, as needed.
  13. Updates the EMR as directed by the provider (medications, E&M coding).
  14. Schedules future appointments in the EMR and directs the patient to his/her next stop (lab, pharmacy, radiology, P.S.S.).
  15. Assists provider with visit confirmation/follow-up calls, preparing letters to patients or rescheduling appointments per UHC P&P. Makes reminder calls and generates correspondence per UHC P&P.
  16. Cleans and sterilizes instruments as needed.
  17. Answers telephones and documents clinical notes in the EMR per UHC P&P.
  18. Complete and sign notes in a timely manner.
  19. Completes electronic or paper referrals for patients.
  20. Collects information about walk-in patient’s clinical complaints and directs patient to the RN for triage, if necessary.
  21. Follows safety procedures and blood borne pathogen precautions as per UHC policies and procedures.
  22. Prepares materials for injections, nebulizer treatment, and in-office procedures as directed by the provider.
  23. Supports and reinforces policies re: patient care, infection control and safety.


  1. High school or Equivalency /GED Diploma and current Medical Assistant Registration (RMA) or Certification (CMA).
  2. Computer Literate.
  3. Language proficiency required in one of the target languages of the organization.
  4. Ability to communicate and work well with people at all levels; excellent team and “people” skills.
  5. Assist and maintain a strong working relationship with providers and professional members of the team.
  6. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  7. Initiates good judgment and ability to contribute in making decisions in a timely fashion.
  8. Actively seek out and support collaborative thinking and problem solving with others in the organization.
  9. Possess a professional appearance and presentation.


Patient Portal Captain

One of the ways we do this is by offering our patients access to a patient portal for online appointment scheduling, medical records access, medication renewals and more.

As a member of the UHC Volunteer Team you will:

  • Work with our patients to assist them in enrolling in the patient portal
  • Help patients navigate through the portal
  • Provide education on available services
  • Interact with patients one-on-one in person.

No previous experience is required. You will receive training on your first day.

Cancer Screening Program Volunteers

Union Health Center (UHC) is an innovative primary and multi-specialty care center that is focused on one thing – helping working people get healthier. With the distinction of being a Patient Centered Medical Home, we are committed to providing team oriented comprehensive care.

One of our initiatives at UHC is increasing cancer screening. Our cancer screening program makes it easier for patients to access the necessary tools for screening.
