Breast Cancer Screening
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women, other than skin cancer. If caught early, many women can be treated and live long and healthy lives. It is important for women between 50 and 74 years old to have a mammogram every two years and get regular breast exams. At your Adult Wellness Visit (AWV), your primary care doctor will ask you about members of your family that have had breast cancer and other risks like smoking. Your primary care doctor will set up your mammogram screening. The mammogram is x-ray pictures of the breast that can show cancer before a lump can be felt in your breast. It is the best test doctors have to find breast cancer early.
