Osteoporosis Screening

Osteoporosis is a disease when your bones become weak. It is one of the reasons why some older people break bones easily, even without a fall. While it is most common for women over 65 years to get osteoporosis, men can also get it. Your primary care doctor may recommend that you get a bone test, (a special X-ray of your hip and spine) to test for osteoporosis. Your primary care doctor will also work with you to prevent osteoporosis by making sure you are getting enough vitamins and exercise.
